Henry Momot
New Junior at the Club
We have an interesting new junior member at the club. His name is Henry Momot. From London, England, he is 9 years old, and is visiting Niagara this summer with his family. Some of you may be lucky enough to have seen him playing out on the courts. He is the number one
ranked jr in England under 10 and as such, he fits very nicely into our top jr program group. He led our junior team recently in the interclub vs Grimsby Tennis Club.
Here are a few quotes about Henry:
From our club pro Dave Boland, “Obviously a tennis prodigy, to all appearances, one stamped by genius. It’s good for the other kids to see him play, and to play with or against him since it may compel them to try that extra bit harder.”
From our Youth Facilitator Drew Kernaghan, “ I had never thought it was possible for a nine year old to be that good. I’ve never seen anything like it.”
From a fellow junior at the club, Molly Mencfeld, “When I first saw Henry, I felt he would be shy and to himself like any other 9 year old would. But when I first talked to him, I could tell that he had a great bubbly personality on the court and off. Henry has been such a delight to have at the Welland tennis club and has sure represented leadership, friendship, positivity and dedication to the club and on the court. Henry participated in the Grimsby interclub and was the most amazing mixed doubles partner I have had! He has become a very good friend to me and I will never forget that. Henry, thank you for becoming an important part of the WTC. There will always be a place for you here. We will miss you.
Henry will be returning to England in early September for this upcoming school year. Thanks for the memories. Dave. |
